MUSH!

Ok, finally, here it is.

This past February, my friend Cindy and I took a trip to Bayfield to go mushing.  Lilly and Quinn (her dog) came with us for the road trip.

When we arrived in Bayfield, we actually got there much earlier than we expected.  So, we decided to take a little drive to the lake shore and let the dogs run around.

Quinn, for reasons known only to him, got the insane idea to jump off this ice shelf and into the frigid water.  Fortunately, he was eventually able to claw his way out.

Anybody know knows me, knows how overprotective and overly cautious I tend to be with my dogs.  This really had my heart pumping.  It was so cold that the water immediately formed icicles on his coat.

The whole area was really very pretty.

And of course, the dogs went right back to playing.

When we got to Wolfsong, it was time to get dressed and head out to meet the dogs.

And learn how to steer the sled.

Everybody got a little something to eat for extra energy.

We got everybody harnessed and ready to run.

And off we went.

By the time we got back, I was exhausted...

And so were the dogs.

We got everybody's harnesses off.

And the dogs headed back to the yard.

The next morning there was a beautiful Lake Superior sunrise just outside our hotel window.

Sunrise on the Superior

That's something I don't think I could ever tire of.

On our way home, we stopped for a quick ski on Lake Superior.  That's right... I actually went skiing on the lake.  I'm not sure I can even believe it, to tell you the truth.

Awwww

The dogs loved it, too.

Then, we set off for the long drive home.
