Pet Blogger Challenge?

Ok, so I'll admit I don't even know exactly where this started.  I've just seen a couple of the blogs I read do this little questionnaire and it looked like a pretty cool idea.  I'm not really the best "blog community" member that ever lived, but I have found some pretty cool people to follow along the way.

Pet Blogger Challenge

1. When did you begin your blog?
Uh... well... lemme go look.
Ah, yes, there it is, October 24, 2008.  It was a dark and stormy night....
Maybe not.
This one still cracks me up.  My second post ever.  I kept the video camera by my bed for weeks to catch some of Lilly's hilarious antics.

2. What was your original purpose for starting a blog?
I used to be a scrapbooker, but then I got a flip video camera - how the heck was I supposed to put videos in my scrapbooks?  Scrapbooking was also a heck of a lot of work and I very rarely actually wrote things in the books - it was all pictures (which is probably why most of my posts here are on picture overload).  Blogging allowed me to add more different kinds of media, share posts with family, and save a tree.  My blog started out largely as just a personal journal, and in many ways it remains as such.  I do like the little extra push that having a few readers gives me to write something at least fairly regularly, though.

3. Is your current purpose the same?
I would say so.  I might have a couple readers, but this blog is still very much my digital scrapbook.

4. Do you blog on a schedule or as the spirit moves you?
Ha!  What do YOU think?  ;)

If the latter, do you worry about… well, whatever you might worry about (e.g. losing traffic, losing momentum)?
There are many things I worry about in life (almost all of them involving my dogs) but my blog is not one of them.  I'm just entirely too "don't sweat the small stuff" for that.  I've also always been one of those people who's relatively unconcerned with whether or not people like me - it actually kinda weirded me out a little when one of my posts was featured on humanewatch.org and I had hundreds of readers in one day.

5. Are you generating income from your blog?
Nah, that sounds like work.

6. What do you like most about blogging in general and your blog in particular (bragging is good!)?
It's much faster than scrapbooking and MUCH less expensive.  It's super easy for me to send a link to family members or friends if they want to see pictures of something my dogs and I did, and it's a coherent place to keep pictures of my babies that I otherwise would probably never look at.  (I go back and re-read my own blog posts all the time)

7. What do you like least?
I can't really think of anything I dislike off hand.  Sometimes I wish it was faster to get posts together, but if I think about how long it would take me to put all the stuff in a scrapbook I get over that real quick.

8. How do you see your blog changing or growing in 2011?
Well, as you know, there will be a little white fluffy addition coming to our pack this weekend.  My google calendar is heavily sprinkled with purple (dog shows) and blue (races/trials) entries and darn near every one of them will show up here in some way.  I expect this year's blog posts to include lots of Photo 51 Samoyeds, and I can't wait to get started!  I'm also excited to further Lilly's show career.

Right here and now I am setting the goal to not let Bailey fall by the wayside as far as blogging goes - he may be retired, but he's the king of this house and he needs proper representation.

  1. It is an interesting interview, thanks for sharing it and letting us know more about you and your blog.
I always admire how you train your dogs and you have done so many for your dogs and cats.
